Hi everyone,

Hopefully we have all arrived back home safely with
only a Few less brain cells (and one set of torn up
knees from late night wall climbing). We also have
dragged ourselves back into the day to day life
we had before the weekend. If most of you are like
me, rolling into Loretto brought back such a rush of
memories as it always does. (This is in spite of the
recent "uglification" of Main Street Loretto.....What
is with the 10 foot stumps they left around anyway
that greet you on the way in?).

All of the anticipation that we felt in our heads leading up to the
"Big Chill on the Hill" have been replaced with memories in our hearts that will last a
lifetime. So far, based on all of the "early returns" that I have heard from a large number
of people, everyone had a tremendous time. The weekend seemed to have affected
mostly those who had not yet been back for our "every five year or as needed"
gatherings. They are now converted and I think we can count on a large turnout on a more
regular basis.

As Teri Muller related, we finally figured this thing out to result in our own "Field of
Dreams" scenario: Get the right people, provide the necessary ingredients, throw in a little
music and a lot of laughs and we have the recipe for the best parties we have seen in a
long time. Just let it happen and it will happen. Don't try to explain it to outsiders, they will
never get it.............
One of the highlights for me was that everyone
who said they would be there.... EVERYBODY ....
showed up. No one pulled a Stoj, not even Stoj
himself. We had a mission to accomplish, we
converged and fulfilled the goals.
For the golfers among us, and for those who just
try to go out and swing the clubs or deliver
refreshments to the golfers (Thanks Frank and
Pecker), the green at #7 STILL ranks as one of
my favorite places in the world. Heaven 360°
around.
When I left the dorm on Sunday morning, the front looked quite good, (for as well as I could
focus) considering it was the most partying that spot had seen since Mac the Cop roamed
the beat. Thanks for keeping relative order and neatness.....(we HAVE matured a little, but
like Marc Cimiluca said "It is good to see that just because we got older, we didn't grow
up.")
Thanks to everyone for coming "Back to the Garden" and a special thanks to those who
traveled from Washington, Florida, the Carolinas and the Heartland. Thanks especially to the
"Old" Theta guys, the ones who somehow had the foresight to pull us together in the fall of
1973 and enable us to gel into one of the tightest groups of lifetime friends SFU/C has ever
seen.
As Tom Delorie stated to me earlier this week
"I was once told that the true mark of a
friendship is when you can go years and
years without seeing one another and within
minutes feel totally connected". Truer words
were never spoken. That is what we are all
about.
And thanks as well to our friends from Alpha,
TKE and Delta for joining in the fun and
games
Stoj, Los, Joe Jiamachello and I all put in a lot of time hoping this weekend would come off.
We now have the added professional options of Bounty Hunters since we found quite a few
people who seem to have almost fallen off the face of the earth. But we would gladly do it
again in a heartbeat.
So enjoy the rest of the summer, everyone.
Stay safe and healthy and please, above all,
stay in touch with the old friends and renewed
acquaintances you made. You will never have a
better group of friends as we had in Loretto and
spent 72 hours with last weekend. Send the
photos that you have around for everyone to
see. Spread the good word.
This one was a classic. Can we ever capture this
magic again? Some don't think so but we will try,
oh yes we will try!
Best Regards to all
